Christopher Barrett Sheridan, the Flower Sommelier.

This online workshop will feature fragrant flowers, floral design and an exploration of the Victorian Language of Flowers which was used to communicate hidden messages via tussie-mussie arrangements. Supply list will be sent prior to the workshop.

Lolly Jewett of Bees' Knees Design

Lolly will discuss bringing bees and other wild creatures into our gardens, explain the connection between native plants and the ecosystem services that keep humans alive and healthy. She will share some of her favorite native plants for small spaces, and outline the top 5 things we can do in our gardens that will benefit the planet.
 

MARCH 2026

Janet Hostetler of Bloom Wild

Ephemerals are the wildflowers that bloom early in the spring and then die back and other plants take over for the summer. Virginia bluebells are the most spectacular, but there are dozens of others. This talk will feature wildflowers from our area, which typically bloom about the end of March and will include suggestions for places to see them, and information about the ones that can be cultivated.

Jordan Gochenaur, Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay

Jordan has extensive experience in planning, installing and maintaining a wide range of landscaping practices including rain gardens, conservation landscaping and permeable pavers. He will talk to us about rain gardens in an urban setting.

         ANNUAL MAY GARDEN WALK

Another Capitol Hill Garden Club tradition! Explore a curated sampling of charming Capitol Hill gardens , led by one of our garden club experts. The walk will conclude with an informal reception at an as yet to be determined location.
